Remington Pulls R51 From Website
So it would appear that Remington has quietly pulled the R51 compact CCW 9mm pistol off of their website. We have also noticed that there are no Remington R51’s at any of the local shops around us. Does this mean that Remington is pulling the plug on this little handgun? Who knows? But, we have had more than one experience with the R51 and none of them were good.
In fact, our original R51 that we shot in all the videos is still at Remington for repair, and has been for over 100 days now. Maybe they just decided to do the right thing and stop selling the gun until they have all the bugs worked out, which is what they should’ve done in the first place. Maybe they are going to scrap it altogether who knows?
We got a lot of slack at first when we posted our original R51 video showing some of the problems with the gun. I can’t help but feel somewhat justified after defending myself to all the keyboard commandos that questioned my motives and ability to do such a review. I’m not new to shooting. I’ve been shooting for over 25 years and I sure don’t know everything and I may not have all the answers and I may have a lot more to learn, but who doesn’t?
I do know a bad one when I see it and as far as I’m concerned the R51 is about as bad as it gets, especially for a company like Remington. For them to let such a big mistake go to market is going to hurt when all the backlash comes a calling. I have even heard the rumblings of a class action suit on the interwebs. I guess only time will tell how this will effect public opinion of Remington in the future. I guess a lot of that will depend on what happens next and how Remington handles this situation.
